Quick Start: First Moves After Reaching TH13
We hit Town Hall 13 and yeah… things get real. New hero, new defenses, bigger grind, and bigger mistakes if we mess this up early.
So we keep it simple.
Unlock the Royal Champion immediately, place your Scattershots, start the Laboratory upgrade first, and put one troop upgrade before upgrading the lab. That’s your opening move.
Biggest mistake? Upgrading random defenses before unlocking your real power. We’ve done it. It slows everything down.
Why This Upgrade Strategy Works
Here’s the thing. TH13 looks heavy, but it’s actually faster than it feels if you play it right.
If you focus on offense, you farm better. If you farm better, you upgrade faster. And if you upgrade faster, you leave TH13 faster. That’s the loop.
We don’t fully max. We don’t blindly rush. We move forward with control and only upgrade what actually helps us progress.
Building Priority — Exact Order
No guessing here.
First unlock power: Royal Champion and Scattershots. This is your biggest jump at TH13.

Then move into offense core:
Upgrade Laboratory, Clan Castle, Army Camps, Barracks, Dark Barracks, Spell Factory, Hero Hall, and Blacksmith.
This is what makes your attacks strong right away.
After that, storages matter more than before because upgrades get expensive and you don’t want to hit storage limits.
Then move to defenses in order: Scattershots, Eagle Artillery, Infernos, X-Bows, and Air Defenses. These are the ones that actually stop attacks.
If your base feels weak, this is also where layout starts mattering a lot. That’s where using something solid from best TH13 bases helps.
After that, everything else like Wizard Towers, Archer Towers, Cannons, and Mortars can come later.
Laboratory Priority — Pick One Path
This is where most players slow themselves down. TH13 lab is long. Really long.
So we don’t try to upgrade everything. We pick one army and commit.
Easy options are Dragons, Hybrid, or Smash attacks.
- Dragons are simple and reliable.
- Hybrid is strong but needs better control.
- Smash armies are safe and consistent.
Pick one and stick to it.
Hero Upgrade Plan
Now the big question. Do we upgrade heroes or skip them?
The real answer is somewhere in between. We upgrade one hero at a time. Priority goes Royal Champion, then Prince, then Grand Warden, then King or Queen.

This way you stay usable in attacks and still make progress.
Some players skip heroes completely and rely on potions. It works, but upgrading at least one hero keeps things smoother overall.
Magic Items, Medals & Gems
This is where smart players quietly get ahead.
Magic items? We don’t use them at TH13. Upgrade times aren’t long enough to justify it, so saving them gives way better value later.
CWL medals? Save for hammers. That’s where real time saving happens.
Raid medals? Focus on ores first. That directly boosts your attacking strength as you upgrade.

Gems? Epic equipment is the best use here. It gives immediate value to your attacks.
Armies You Should Use
We keep this simple.
For farming, Dragons work almost everywhere. Easy, consistent, low effort.
For war, you can go Hybrid, Smash, or even Dragons depending on the base.
Simple armies win more often than complicated ones.
If you want more consistent triples instead of guessing every attack, go through Best TH13 attack strategies. Because random army switching just wastes time.
Defense Upgrade Order
Not all defenses matter equally at TH13.

High impact: Scattershots, Eagle Artillery, Infernos.
Mid-tier: X-Bows and Air Defenses.
Low impact: Cannons and Mortars.
At this stage, defenses actually start deciding outcomes. Strong bases don’t just look good… they hold up.
Resource & Trophy Strategy
Here’s where things shift.
At TH13, leagues matter more than ever. Higher leagues mean more loot, more ores, and faster upgrades.
But if your base is weak, you’ll just get farmed and drop back down.
So yeah, farming is only half the game. Defense keeps your progress safe.
If you’re losing loot or dropping trophies, fix it with something reliable from get TH13 farm/trophy base. Because losing loot hurts more than failing attacks.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
We’ve made all of these at some point.
Upgrading everything in the lab.
Using magic items too early.
Ignoring the Royal Champion.
Running weak bases.
Switching armies every few days.
Pick a plan and stick to it. That alone fixes most problems.
When to Move to TH14
We don’t wait for perfect max.
We move when the main army is strong, core buildings are done, and heroes are at a decent level.
That’s enough.
Staying too long at TH13 slows progress more than it helps.
🏆 Easiest Way To Upgrade 2x Faster
We all think progress comes from better attacks and more farming. Not really.
At TH13, if your base is weak, you don’t just lose… you get wiped and drop trophies fast.
Weak defense leads to more 3-stars. More 3-stars drop your trophies. Lower trophies mean worse rewards. Less loot means slower upgrades.
Now flip that. Strong base means fewer losses. Higher trophies mean better loot and ores. Better rewards mean faster upgrades without extra grind.
So yeah, defense quietly speeds everything up.
If you want that edge, our TH13 base pack is built to help you defend better, stay higher, and progress faster.
Because at this stage, it’s not just about farming more… it’s about keeping what you earn.
