Super Bowler Attack Guide in Clash of Clans

Super Bowler Attack Guide in Clash of Clans

1. Learn how to plan and execute a TH18 Super Bowler attack like the World's Super Bowler expert: Trottino. Discover how to create the right entry, control troop pathing, and adjust your plan mid-attack.

Hey Chief,

Super Bowlers can be a powerful way to attack Town Hall 18 bases, but getting consistent triples takes more than simply sending them into the base.

In this strategy, Trottino combines Super Bowlers with a Duke Charge to create a strong entry, remove key defenses, and build a path for the main army. The plan also uses Ice Blocks, Ice Golems, Rage, the Warden, and the other support troops to keep the attack moving.

The most important part is the planning. We need to know where the Duke should go, where the Bowlers should enter, when to use the Warden Ability, and how to adjust when the base does not behave exactly as expected.

Let's break down Trottino's approach and see how this Super Bowler strategy works.

Meet Trottino: The Pro Behind This Strategy

Trottino takes a very methodical approach to attacking.

Before starting the attack, he takes a picture of the base and sketches out his plan. He looks at where the Duke can get the most value, where the Bowlers should enter, and how the different parts of the army will connect.

But the plan isn't treated as something that cannot change.

Trottino

After the attack, Trottino reviews the replay and looks at what went differently from his original plan. He then considers how he could change the entry to make the attack even better.

That combination of planning before the attack and learning from the replay afterward is one of the biggest lessons from this strategy.

Building the Perfect Super Bowler Army

The strength of this attack comes from how the different troops work together.

The Super Bowlers are the main attacking force, while the heroes and support troops help create and protect their path through the base.

Understanding the Role of Every Troop

Army Composition - Trottino Super Bowlers Master Class
Unit / Spell Main Role
Duke Creates the first side of the funnel and removes key defenses
Super Bowlers Main attacking force
Ice Golems Protect the entry and freeze dangerous defenses
Warden Supports and protects the main army
King Clears the outside and helps shape the path
Queen Adds damage from inside the main push
Rage Speeds up and strengthens the main army
Ice Blocks Protect the Duke and control dangerous defenses
Poison Helps deal with defending troops
Totems Distract dangerous defenses
Siege Machine Supports the main attack

The exact troop counts are not shown in the transcript, so the important thing here is understanding why each part of the army is being used.

Why the Duke Charge Works With Super Bowlers

The Duke is used to remove a large section of the base before the main army enters.

Trottino identifies a Rico Cannon as a strong starting point because several important defenses are nearby. The area also contains an Air Defense, Long Shot, Multi Archer Tower, and Clan Castle.

By sending the Duke there and using Ice Blocks at the right moments, he can keep the Duke alive while allowing him to remove more of the base.

This creates the first part of the funnel for the Super Bowlers.

The Support Troops and Spells You Need

The supporting units are just as important as the Bowlers themselves.

Ice Golems can protect the entry while also freezing dangerous defenses. Rage helps the Bowlers and Healers move through the base faster. Poison deals with defending troops, while Totems can distract dangerous defenses during the main push.

The Warden then provides another layer of protection when the army reaches the more dangerous sections of the base.

▶️ Planning the Super Bowler Attack

Trottino's attack starts long before the first troop is deployed.

The goal is to break the base into manageable sections and create a path that naturally leads the Bowlers toward the core.

Choosing the Right Duke Entry

The first question is simple:

Where can the Duke get the most value?

In Trottino's example, the Rico Cannon is attractive because of everything surrounding it.

The Duke can potentially remove several important defenses while also helping deal with the Clan Castle area.

The important lesson is not to copy the exact Rico Cannon entry on every base. Instead, look for a location where the Duke can remove several useful defenses and create a better starting point for the main army.

Using Ice Blocks to Maximize Duke Value

Ice Blocks are used to keep the Duke alive while he works through the planned section.

Trottino uses them to deal with dangerous defenses and control the area around the Duke.

He also uses them while dealing with the Clan Castle troops, allowing him to keep the Duke's charge going rather than letting the defending troops overwhelm him.

The goal is to get as much value as possible from the Duke before starting the main push.

Creating the Perfect Funnel for Your Bowlers

Once the Duke has removed one section of the base, the next job is to create the other side of the funnel.

Trottino plans to enter with a Wall Breaker and immediately follow it with an Ice Golem.

This is important because the entry contains a defensive building and two heroes. The Ice Golem can protect the troops while freezing the dangerous area.

Then the Super Bowlers and Rage enter.

The objective is clear: remove this section of the base so the main army has a clean path toward the inside.

Planning the Warden Ability

The Warden Ability is planned around the point where the main army reaches the deeper part of the base.

Trottino wants the Bowlers to reach a specific area before using the ability to help them move safely into the core.

This is a good example of why we should plan abilities around where the army needs protection, rather than simply using them as soon as the troops take damage.

Using the King to Complete the Path

While the main army moves toward the core, the King is sent outside to clear another section of the base.

This creates another important piece of the path.

With the outside area cleared and the Queen already inside with the main force, the Bowlers have fewer opportunities to move away from the intended route.

The result is a much cleaner path through the base.

Executing the Super Bowler Attack

Once the plan is ready, execution becomes a matter of following the path while reacting to what the base throws at us.

Starting the Duke Charge

Duke Charge - Trottino Super Bowlers Master Class

Trottino starts the Duke from the planned Rico Cannon entry.

He uses an Ice Block to help deal with the Air Defense and continues supporting the Duke as the charge develops.

When the Clan Castle troops and other defenses become a problem, he uses Poison and additional Ice Blocks to keep control of the area.

The Duke doesn't need to destroy the entire base. His job is to create enough value to make the main Super Bowler push easier.

Sending in the Bowlers

Once the first section is cleared, Trottino starts the second part of the attack.

The Ice Golem goes in first to protect the entry.

Then come the Super Bowlers and Rage.

This combination allows the main army to quickly destroy the planned section while moving toward the deeper part of the base.

Protecting the Main Push

As the Bowlers move deeper into the base, keeping the army alive becomes the priority.

Trottino uses Rage to support the Bowlers and Healers and uses Totems when dangerous defenses threaten the push.

He also sends additional support troops and the Siege Machine as the attack develops.

The important thing is to avoid letting the main army lose momentum.

Using the Warden Ability at the Right Moment

Planning the Warden Ability - Trottino Super Bowlers Master Class

The Warden Ability is saved for the dangerous section of the attack.

Trottino initially plans to use it when the main army reaches the core.

However, the actual attack doesn't go exactly according to plan.

A Cake begins damaging the army heavily, forcing him to use the Warden Ability earlier than expected.

This is an important reminder: a plan tells us what we want to do, but the base decides what we actually have to do.

Finishing the Attack

After the main push reaches the core, Trottino uses his remaining heroes, spells, and support troops to finish the base.

The attack ends in a triple.

But the replay analysis reveals that the successful result doesn't mean every decision was perfect.

What Went Wrong in Trottino's Attack?

One of the most useful parts of this Masterclass is that Trottino doesn't simply show the triple and move on.

He goes back through the replay and identifies several problems with his original plan.

The Logger Pushed the Duke Back

Fixes - Trottino Super Bowlers Master Class

The Logger interferes with the Duke's movement and pushes him backward.

This makes the charge less clean than Trottino expected.

However, the Duke still manages to remove a large part of the base, so the original plan isn't completely ruined.

This shows why we shouldn't panic when one part of an attack doesn't go exactly as planned.

The Gold Storage Changed the Bowler Path

Another problem comes from the Gold Storage.

Trottino had planned for the Duke to remove that section, but the Bowlers end up moving toward the Gold Storage instead.

That changes their path and affects how the main push develops.

When planning a Super Bowler attack, we therefore need to look beyond defenses and also consider buildings that can pull troops away from our intended route.

The Cake Forced an Early Warden Ability

The Cake creates another problem.

It deals enough damage to the main army that Trottino has to use the Warden Ability earlier than he originally planned.

That reduces the amount of flexibility he has later in the attack.

This is why we should always identify the biggest threats to the main army before starting the attack.

Why This Super Bowler Strategy Looks Easy

When a pro player executes a Super Bowler attack, it can look like the army simply destroys everything in its path.

But there are several decisions happening before the Bowlers even enter the base.

We need to decide:

  • Where the Duke should start.
  • Which defenses the Duke should remove.
  • When to use Ice Blocks.
  • Where to create the second funnel.
  • When to send the Bowlers.
  • Where the Warden Ability will have the most value.
  • How to use the King to shape the path.
  • How to react when the base changes the original plan.

The troops may be powerful, but these decisions are what make the strategy consistent.

How to Adapt Your Super Bowler Attack

The replay doesn't just show what went wrong. It also shows how an experienced player thinks about improving the attack.

When Your First Entry Isn't Perfect

Trottino's first entry still works, even though several things interfere with the original plan.

The key is that the Duke has already created enough value for the main army to continue.

When something unexpected happens, look at the value you've already gained before deciding whether the entire attack needs to change.

Finding a Better Duke Entry

After watching the replay, Trottino considers using a different Duke entry.

He suggests that sending the Duke from another side could potentially provide better access to defenses and more favorable air damage.

This is the kind of adjustment that comes from studying the base instead of blindly repeating the same attack.

Planning Around Air Damage

The defenses around the Duke also matter.

Trottino considers how the Duke's path exposes him to air damage and how Ice Blocks can help him survive while removing important defenses.

When choosing a Duke entry, we should therefore consider not only what the Duke can destroy but also what can keep damaging him along the way.

The Biggest Lesson From Trottino's Attack

The biggest lesson is that good attack planning doesn't mean predicting everything perfectly.

Trottino creates a detailed plan before the attack. He then executes it, watches what actually happens, and studies the replay afterward.

The Logger pushes the Duke back.

The Gold Storage changes the Bowler path.

The Cake forces an early Warden Ability.

And yet the attack still triples.

More importantly, Trottino can identify what he would change next time.

That is what makes this strategy repeatable. We aren't just learning where to drop troops. We're learning how to plan, execute, analyze, and adapt.

Questions

The strongest approach shown in Trottino’s attack combines a Duke Charge with Super Bowlers. The plan is to use the Duke to remove a key section, create a funnel, then send the Bowlers through a controlled entry toward the core.

Start the Duke where he can remove several valuable defenses and create one side of the funnel. Use Ice Blocks to protect him, then prepare the opposite side with an Ice Golem and Wall Breakers before sending in the Super Bowlers.

Look for an area where the Duke can remove several valuable defenses while creating a useful funnel for the Super Bowlers. Also consider the air damage around the Duke and whether Ice Blocks can keep him alive long enough to get the required value.
