5️⃣ Hydra 🔗

Army Composition

TH18 Hydra

🔗 Copy Hydra Army Link 🔗

Why It Works

Hydra is one of the safest, most consistent air attacks at TH18. Ice Hounds tank for Dragons and Dragon Riders, Overgrowth spells control pathing and incoming damage, and the Dragon Duke handles the funneling so the main pack doesn't drift around the outside. Get the funnel right and this army is extremely hard to stop.

How to Run It

  1. Start the Dragon Duke on one side to shape the funnel — use the Queen on the opposite flank to clean up the other side and establish a clean entry point on both sides
  2. Once the edges are cleared, send in Ice Hounds, Dragons, Dragon Riders, and the Warden straight through the middle — the Ice Hound's freeze effect when it goes down helps push the army deeper
  3. Use the Warden ability as the army approaches the core to keep the push healthy through key defenses
  4. Drop Overgrowth on one side to reduce incoming damage and narrow the path — use a second Overgrowth once the first wears off, placing it on the same section or wherever the army is taking the most pressure
  5. Use the Minion Prince ability on the back end to slow down defenses — cycle Totem spells to distract heroes and nearby defenses throughout the push
  6. When the Dragon Duke goes down, use the Revive spell to bring him back — he'll clean up remaining defenses and buildings on the back end

Pro Tip: Save your Freeze spell for wherever the army is taking the heaviest damage rather than pre-placing it — reacting to where pressure is highest gets more value than guessing in advance.

4️⃣ Queen Charge Super Bowlers 🔗

Army Composition

TH18 Super Bowlers

🔗 Copy Queen Charge Super Bowlers Army Link 🔗

Why It Works

The Queen Charge strips the most dangerous defenses before the main push even starts. By the time Super Bowlers go in, the Town Hall, heroes, and key core defenses are already gone — leaving the Bowlers to shred through a compromised base with Rage and Warden ability backing them up.

How to Run It

  1. Drop the Queen with five Healers to funnel one side — use Super Wall Breakers to give her access into the base, cycle Invisibility spells to protect her from the Guardian, and use a Rage spell when she starts taking heavy damage to keep her alive through key defenses
  2. Send an Ice Golem to tank for the Queen — its freeze effect when it goes down buys her extra time to clear heroes and key defenses; recall her once the funnel is complete
  3. Send in the Ice Golem, Super Bowlers, Warden, and recalled Queen from one side — deploy King and Dragon Duke on the opposite side to build the second funnel, with the Dragon Duke pushing into a side compartment to remove additional defenses
  4. Once troops are ready to enter the core, drop a Rage spell and pop the Warden ability — keep cycling Rage spells as the Bowlers move through so they maintain maximum damage output
  5. Use a Skeleton spell near the Monolith before it locks onto a hero or troop — use a Baby Dragon on the outside to pick up free buildings and clean up the edges

Pro Tip: Getting the Town Hall in the Queen Charge is the single biggest factor in whether this attack succeeds — always read the base for an entry angle that gets her there before anything else.

3️⃣ Electro Dragon Spam 🔗

Army Composition

TH18 Electro Dragons

🔗 Copy Electro Dragon Spam Army Link 🔗

Why It Works

Electro Dragons hit multiple targets with each strike, making them lethal against compact base layouts where defenses are clustered together. The Dragon Duke and Queen handle both sides of the funnel before the main pack goes in, and Overgrowth spells keep the E-Drags on a tight path through the core rather than drifting. Against the right base type, this army is an overkill machine.

How to Run It

  1. Start the Dragon Duke in one corner with the Rocket Backpack — send the Queen to the opposite side and pop her ability to take out at least one air defense; together they set the funnel on both sides
  2. Once the funnel is shaped, send in all Electro Dragons, Balloons, Warden, Minion Prince, and Sky Wagon from the intended entry point
  3. Use Totem spells to distract defenses, then use the Warden ability early with a Rage spell to accelerate the E-Drags through the first layer of the base faster
  4. Drop Overgrowth on the core to reduce incoming damage and redirect the Electro Dragons into a narrower, more focused path — use the Minion Prince ability to slow down everything in the middle
  5. Keep cycling Totem spells wherever defenses are applying the most pressure — save the Freeze spell for dangerous back-end defenses like the Super Wizard Tower or Multi-Gear Tower
  6. When the Dragon Duke goes down, use the Revive spell to bring him back — he'll clean up key defenses in the middle while E-Drags and the Queen finish off remaining buildings

Pro Tip: Electro Dragons perform best against compact bases where their chain lightning hits multiple defenses at once — on spread bases, consider switching to Hydra or a ground army instead.

But These Armies Can 3-Star Your Base Too (Here's How to Defend Them)

Running strong attacks is only half the equation at TH18.
If you get 3-starred often on defense, there's no use even if you have a 100% hit rate.

But when you're solid on both attacking & defending, climbing leagues, winning wars & CWL becomes extremely easy and effortless.

Free bases in War, CWL, and Ranked are:

❌ Not built to handle the armies covered in this guide
❌ Shared publicly — attackers know the weak sides before they even deploy
❌ No updates when the meta shifts after a balance change
❌ Thousands of players running the same layout in your league

That's why we built the TH18 Blue Diamond pack, which fixes all of these problems:

✅ Fresh War, CWL, and ESL bases every month
✅ Built by top players to defend today's meta armies — including everything on this list
✅ Limited to a small player base — opponents won't recognise your layout
✅ Delivered straight to your inbox before each season

2️⃣ Zap Throwers with Rocket Backpack 🔗

Army Composition

TH18 Zap Throwers

🔗 Copy Zap Throwers Army Link 🔗

Why It Works

Lightning and Earthquake spells soften a high-value defense cluster before a single troop is deployed, and the Dragon Duke's Rocket Backpack finishes what the spells started. Throwers then push through a base that's already missing a key section — with the Log Launcher opening walls and the Queen and King handling the outside funnel. It's a high-damage, methodical ground push that rewards precise spell placement early.

How to Run It

  1. Drop Lightning and Earthquake spells directly onto the primary target, then immediately deploy the Dragon Duke on that side and pop his ability with the Rocket Backpack to finish off the weakened defenses
  2. Once the Dragon Duke clears into the next section, send in the Ice Golem, all Throwers, Warden, and Healers — deploy Queen and King on the opposite side to create the outside funnel and use Super Wall Breakers to open the base
  3. Send in the Log Launcher to keep opening compartments toward the core — use Totem spells to distract the Guardian and defending heroes, especially when the Queen or King is taking Monolith damage
  4. Drop Overgrowth on the back end to create a narrower path for the Throwers so they stay grouped and push through remaining defenses together
  5. Use Freeze spells as the army reaches the back end to reduce incoming damage — an Invisibility spell on the Throwers can also buy valuable time if they're taking heavy fire
  6. If the Dragon Duke goes down, use the Revive spell to bring him back for back-end cleanup — use the King ability to weaken additional defenses as the push finishes

Pro Tip: The spell combo at the start is the most important part of this attack — dropping Lightning and Earthquake on the wrong target wastes the entire opening and leaves the push fighting into a full-strength defense cluster.

1️⃣ RC Walk Meteor Golem 🔗

Army Composition

TH18 RC Walk Meteor Golems

🔗 Copy RC Walk Meteor Golem Army Link 🔗

Why It Works

Meteor Golems are exceptional tanks — high HP, strong distraction value, and the ability to anchor a ground push through the toughest TH18 cores. Pair that with an RC Walk that strips a full corner of the base and builds a clean funnel, and you have one of the most dominant ground attacks at this Town Hall. The Troop Launcher adds continuous wall-breaking support throughout the push, making it very hard to stall.

How to Run It

  1. Start the RC Walk using Rocket Spear, Electro Boots, and Invisibility spells — while the Spirit Fox is alive, use an Invisibility spell every 10 seconds (time it when the timer hits around six); once the Fox goes down, switch to every 4 seconds; recall the RC once the funnel is complete
  2. Use a Baby Dragon to snipe outside buildings and extend the funnel — then send in the Ice Golem, Meteor Golems, Healers, Warden, Troop Launcher, and recalled RC together
  3. Deploy King and Queen together on the opposite corner to build the second funnel — use Super Wall Breakers to open the base; the Troop Launcher will also fire barrels with Wall Breakers to keep opening walls as the push moves forward
  4. Once troops start taking heavy damage, use the Warden ability with a Rage spell together to power through the core and remove the biggest threats fast — cycle Totem spells to distract defending heroes and defenses throughout
  5. On the back end, use Overgrowth spells to redirect the army into a safer path and reduce incoming damage — use King and RC abilities to snipe key back-end defenses, with the Spiky Ball weakening multiple targets at once
  6. If there's a Revenge Tower on the back end, deal with it carefully — use a Freeze or Invisibility spell to protect troops while taking it down rather than letting it deal free damage to the push

Pro Tip: The Invisibility timing on the RC Walk is what separates a good walk from a great one — switching from every 10 seconds (Fox alive) to every 4 seconds (Fox down) without missing a beat is the habit worth drilling first.

Which TH18 Army Is Good For You?

Army Best For Core Damage Dealer Difficulty
Hydra Any base, safe consistent air Dragons + Dragon Riders Easy
Queen Charge Super Bowlers Compact bases, War & Legend Super Bowlers + Queen Medium
Electro Dragon Spam Compact/clustered bases Electro Dragons Easy–Medium
Zap Throwers + Rocket Backpack War, precise spell players Throwers + Dragon Duke Medium
RC Walk Meteor Golem Any base, dominant ground Meteor Golems + RC Walk Medium–Hard

All five armies reward good spell timing over raw troop levels — getting the opening phase right (funnel, RC Walk, or spell placement) is what separates a clean triple from a two-star.

Questions

RC Walk Meteor Golem is one of the most dominant TH18 ground attacks right now. The RC Walk strips a full corner of the base and builds a clean funnel, while Meteor Golems anchor the push with high HP and strong distraction value. For players who prefer air, Hydra is the safest and most consistent option across a wide range of base types.

The five strongest TH18 armies right now are RC Walk Meteor Golem, Zap Throwers with Rocket Backpack, Electro Dragon Spam, Queen Charge Super Bowlers, and Hydra. Each one handles a different type of base — together they cover every situation you'll face in War and Legend League.

Hydra is the most beginner-friendly TH18 army. The Dragon Duke and Queen handle the funneling, Ice Hounds tank for the main push, and Overgrowth spells control pathing automatically. There's less precise timing required compared to RC Walk or Queen Charge strategies — the main skill to develop is reading the correct entry angle for the funnel.
