New Crafted Defenses Are Coming in Clash of Clans
We didn’t think we’d care this much about defenses again.
But then Boom dropped Builder Base stuff into the Home Village and… yeah, we’re paying attention.
Also quick confession: we’re still not over Bomb Hive being gone. That one hurt more than it should’ve.
When the New Crafted Defenses Release
April 1. Wednesday. Season 3.
We know… sounds like a joke date.
But this one’s real.
And it’s not a small update either.
We’re getting 3 Builder Base defenses in the Home Village.
That alone is enough to mess with current war bases.
Why Builder Base Defenses in Home Village Matter
Here’s the thing.
Builder Base defenses don’t play nice.
They’re built to annoy.
They:

mess with troop movement
-
punish lazy spam
-
create weird attack paths
It’s less “clean 3-star plan”…
more “why are my troops walking into that?”
Not saying it’s better.
Just… more chaotic. Which we kinda like.
Air Bombs (aka "Bye Dragons")

Targets: Air troops only
Damage: Splash (balloon drops)
This is pretty straightforward.
If someone is running dragons or balloons, this will hurt.
Not instantly delete… but enough to mess up timing.

Damage per hit

Attack speed
We’re expecting this to show up in core setups for anti-air.
Lava Launcher (This One's Evil)

Targets: Ground troops only
Damage: Splash + lava over time
This one is annoying in a different way.
It doesn’t just hit.
It leaves lava on the ground.
So troops take damage even after the shot lands.
We’ve seen troops just stand there slowly losing HP… not fun.
Upgrade modules:

Damage per second

Range
Feels strong against slow, tanky pushes.
Roaster (the Chaos Machine)

Targets: Ground and air
Damage: Splash in bursts
This one hits everything.
Fires in short bursts, spreads damage, and can clean up groups fast.
Kind of like a mix between Wizard Tower and something more aggressive.

Burst count
Probably the most flexible of the three.
What We Miss From Season 2 Crafted Defenses
We’re just gonna say it.
Bomb Hive was actually fun.
It messed up attacks.
It attacked in all directions.
And now it’s gone.
We get it… new season, new defenses.
Still feels like we lost something useful.
Simple Takeaway
This update isn’t about fancy defenses.
It’s about changing how bases defend.
Builder Base defenses tend to create awkward attacks.
And awkward usually means more failed hits.
We’re not fully sold yet.
But we’re definitely testing these the second they drop.
