Hey chief,
Sneak Peek 2 is quite long! It's also worth reading the changes to understand the new League system better. This Sneak Peek is mainly about the new League system, how it works, the loot and trophies you get, the changes applied to the Leagues and much more!
Here's Sneak Peek #1 if you missed it.
Split Matchmaking + New League System
The game will now have two ways to play: a casual mode called Battle Mode for loot farming and a competitive mode called Ranked Mode.
Battle Mode
-
No Trophies are won or lost.
-
Matches are mostly based on Town Hall level, with a small range of variance.
-
Magic Shield and Revenge features only apply in this mode.
Ranked Mode
-
This is an upgraded version of the current Legend League system and now includes all Trophy Leagues, giving players control over when they compete.
-
To play, a player must:
-
Sign up for the tournament (or tick “auto-sign up” to join future tournaments automatically).
-
Set a defending base layout.
-
Choose defending troops.
-
-
Loot and layout rules are based on a snapshot system.
-
Trophies are earned or lost depending on battle outcomes.
-
Trophies reset at the start of each tournament:
-
Legend League: every 4 weeks
-
Lower leagues: every week
-
-
Tournament leaderboard results decide the player’s Trophy League.
-
Trophy Leagues offer different numbers of attacks per week, from 6 in the lowest leagues to 56 in the top Legend League.
-
Each Town Hall has a League Floor, meaning a player can’t drop below it.
-
When leveling up to a new Town Hall, players are automatically placed at that League Floor in the next tournament.
-
Inactive players get one week off before League Decay starts, so brief breaks won’t be penalized.
-
Higher leagues have Hard Mode modifiers to make attacks tougher:
-
eSports (exclusive)
-
Expert – level 1 (Legend League -2)
-
Master – level 2 (Legend League -1)
-
Legend – level 3 (Legend League)
-
Achievements Update
-
League All-Star will be retired. Existing players who have completed some stars can keep them, but new stars can’t be earned. New players won’t see this achievement.

-

-
Seeding Players into a League
Player Type | Seeding Rule |
---|---|
Unranked players (never joined a League Tournament) | Placed at the League floor for their Town Hall level |
Players who played in last week’s League Tournament | Seeded based on their performance in the previous tournament |
Players demoted below their League floor | Stay in the same league; cannot drop further |
Players who played previously but skipped last week | Last league shown; current league adjusts based on League Decay (can be promoted, demoted, or remain the same) |
Example: A player who dominates Season X but takes a break for a few weeks will still see promotion for Season X but may be demoted in the following seasons they skip.
League Decay Details
-
If a player is inactive for one week, they keep their current League.
-
Continued inactivity triggers League Decay: each extra week absent costs one League rank, until they reach their Town Hall’s League floor.
-
Active play = starting at least one battle in that tournament week.
-
Inactive = did not sign up or signed up but didn’t play any battles.
-
Once a player is inactive for one week at the TH floor, they become unranked.
-
Players always see their last league, and the system adjusts their current league (promoted, demoted, or unchanged) based on activity.
Example: A player wins all battles in Season X, then takes a break for a few weeks. They will still be promoted for Season X, but in the following inactive seasons, they may be demoted according to League Decay rules.
Pooling Players into League Tournament Groups
-
When players sign up for a tournament, they are grouped with others into a Tournament Group.
-
Players compete on the group leaderboard, but will only attack or be attacked by a small subset of the group.
-
Matchmaking within the group is based on:
-
Primary: League
-
Secondary: Town Hall Level (only for lower leagues)
-
-
The system tries to avoid putting clan mates together in the same group.
-
Each Tournament Group starts with around 100 players, depending on the League.
Scoring in League Tournaments & Handling Missed Attacks
Trophies from Attacks:
-
Each attack can award up to 40 Trophies, regardless of the Trophy difference between attacker and defender.
-
3-stars: Earn the full 40 Trophies.
-
2-stars: Earn between 16–32 Trophies, depending on damage. Example: a 50% 2-star gives 16 Trophies; for every 3% damage above 50%, you gain 1 more Trophy.
-
1-star: Earn between 5–15 Trophies based on damage. A 1% 1-star gives 5 Trophies; each additional 9% damage adds 1 Trophy. Full 15 Trophies at 91% damage.
-
0-stars: No direct Trophy loss. Up to 4 Trophies can be earned depending on damage (1 Trophy per 10%). If damage is ≤9%, no Trophies are awarded.
Trophies from Defenses:
-
Full 40 Trophies are available in every attack, but distribution depends on result.
-
3-stars: Attacker gets 40, defender gets 0.
-
2-stars: Attacker earns 16–32; defender gets the remaining Trophies to make 40.
-
1-star: Attacker earns 5–15; defender gets the difference to 40.
-
0-stars: Attacker may earn up to 4, but defender always gets full 40.
Key Point: Trophies are not strictly zero-sum—both sides can earn depending on the result.
The Battle End Screen will clearly display how many Trophies each player earned.
Loot Tables
In League Tournament battles, players attack a snapshot of the defender’s base. This means all loot is generated by the system rather than being taken directly from the defender.
Changes to League Bonus
The League Bonus works like before, but now rewards are adjusted based on League and Town Hall level.
-
Players earn a percentage of the full potential loot based on the damage dealt in their attack.
-
For each percent of damage up to 50%, you get 1.6% of your loot bonus.
-
Example: a 50% victory gives 80% of the full loot bonus.
-
Partial percentages are rounded down. For example, a 33% 1-star attack gives 52% of the loot bonus.
-
-
Players who are unranked (TH1–TH6) will receive a League Bonus based on their Town Hall level.
League Tournaments Leaderboards
Players can track their weekly performance in League Tournaments through the Leaderboards (Tab #1 in the scoring button on the League Battles UI Card). This shows how they compare with others in their Tournament Group. The battle log and leaderboard can be accessed via a button on the League Tournament Card UI.
-
The leaderboard ranks players based on total Trophies earned from attacks and defenses in that week only.
-
Each row shows: Player Name + Clan Name, number of attacks/defenses, and total Trophy score.
-
Leaderboards have three zones: Promotion, Stay, and Demotion.
-
Top X% of players move up a league in the next tournament.
-
Bottom Y% move down.
-
The rest stay in the same league.
-
Tie Breakers for leaderboard ranking:
-
Total Trophies
-
Total Destruction % from attacks
-
Total Defense % taken (lower is better)
-
Total Attack Time (lower is better)

Weeks a player skips will not appear in the history.
-
The leaderboard displays for each tournament:
-
League icon

Final rank in the group
-
Tournament end date
-
Number of attacks and defenses completed
-
Total Trophies earned
-
This tab helps players track their past performance and progress over time.
Changes to Achievements
Sunsetting Existing League Achievements
-
League All-Star and Hitting (Crystal / Master / Champion) League achievements will be retired.
-
For existing players who completed at least one star, the achievement will still appear in the UI, but they cannot earn the remaining stars.
-
For new players or installs, this achievement will be hidden since it can no longer be completed.
Changes in My Profile
League UI Updates

-
All-Time Best League: Shows the tier icon and your highest placement, replacing highest trophies.

Only players currently migrated into the new Legend League will see this module.
-
Players who were previously in Legend League but aren’t now will still see their highest past score in the All-Time Best League section.
-
Placement is now displayed directly (instead of over the League badge).
-
Season naming shows the exact end date: “Season ending on XX/XX/XXXX,” rather than just the month.
QA Note [P1]: Both Battles and Ranked Battles should contribute to the player stats for Attacks Won and Defenses Won.
Changes in the Home Village HUD
Leaderboard Button Updates
-
Before unlocking Ranked Mode, the HUD shows a generic “rank” icon. Tapping it opens the My League info screen.
-
Once Competitive Mode is unlocked, the button displays the player’s current league badge, even for unranked players.

In the first update, only Legend League will show trophy counters.
-
To match the new HUD layout, some assets in Builder Base (BB) and Clan Capital (CC) will swap positions; functionality stays the same.

33 leagues below Legend League, divided into 3 divisions each
-
Legend League (1 league) – Super Dragon
-
Total: 34 leagues (33 + Legend)
The maximum number of League Battles per tournament depends on the league the player is in.
League Floors
Each Town Hall (TH) level has a minimum league, called a League Floor. Players cannot drop below this floor.
-
When a player upgrades to a new Town Hall, they are automatically placed at the League Floor for that TH in the next tournament.
-
This promotion happens regardless of previous performance or activity.
-
Only the promoted player sees the notification; other players in the tournament do not see “unearned” promotions.

Migration Plan for Existing Players (Including Legend League)
Go-live date: Monday, October 6th
End of current Legend League season: Monday, October 6th
Seeding Players into the New League System
-
Top 600K players in Legend League will be placed in the new system based on their final rank in the season ending October 6th:
-
Top 100K → New Legend League (Super Dragon)
-
Next 200K → League 33 – E-Drag 1
-
Next 300K → League 32 – E-Drag 2
-
Total: 600K players
-
-
This is a one-time migration at the update launch.
-
Players outside the top 600K will be placed according to their Town Hall level and Trophy score when the update goes live.
Changes to Legend League
-
Players promoted from League 33 can choose to sign up for Legend League at any point in the season.
-
Once signed up, Legend League participation auto-renews as long as the player stays in Legend League.
-
If a player opts out, normal League decay applies after one week of inactivity.
-
Legend players can participate in both regular Battles and Legend League battles.
-
Players must keep at least 4,900 trophies to remain in Legend League.
-
Demotions occur at the end of Sunday in the Legend League week; falling behind on trophies during the week gives a chance to recover.
-
After demotion, players must sign up again in Ranked League to try re-entering Legend League.
-
Legend League Tournaments last four weeks.
Legend League QoL Improvements
Timing
-
Legend League Tournaments now run as fixed 4-week competitions.
-
The first season starts on Monday, October 6th.
-
The initial season may be slightly shorter depending on update timing.
Battles Availability
-
Legend League players can still attack and defend in their Home Village during regular Battles, even while in a Legend League Tournament.
-
Players cannot opt out of being attacked in Home Village Battles, but they are not required to attack in these regular Battles.
Phew! We know that was longer than the Giant Arrow range. But the new League System is definitely gonna be fun. It makes all TH levels competitive and boosts lower TH activity.
And, do we have Sneak Peek #3 or the update next? We'll have to wait and see. After all, Clash of Clans players are the most patient beings on the planet!
