Okay, real talk!
We used to treat ores like background noise. Just little shiny things we collected along the way.
Then Clash dropped equipment, and suddenly ores became the crypto of the game. Valuable, random, and somehow always too low no matter what we do.
So yeah. We had to figure out how to stop being broke.
Every Way You Can Get Ores… Without Spending a Dime
Let’s break this Clash of Clans guide down like we’re explaining it to our cousin who still uses Barb spam at TH14.
You can get ores from:
-
Daily star bonus (your main income stream — like a salary but with more rage spells)
-
War win bonuses (Starry ore ONLY comes from here for free-to-play)
-
Clan Capital raid medal shop (trade medals → buy ore bundles weekly)
-
Events (Clash loves throwing cookies, pumpkins, fireworks — they all drop ores)
-
Gems (technically works, but also… why?)
If you’re a spender, you also get:
-
Gold Pass star ore
-
Occasional ore bundles (not recommended unless you like buying disappointment)
Honestly though, 90% of players are living off star bonus + wars. And yeah, that means League actually matters.
Why Higher Leagues = More Ores
Clash basically said “work harder, get shinier stuff.”
If you reach Legends League?
54 glowy ore + 1,000 shiny ore every single day.
It’s insane.
But here’s the trap:
If being in a higher league stops you from keeping your builders down 24/7, you’re hurting yourself.
Time > Ores.
We’ll die on that hill.
War Ores: The Only Way to Print Starry Ore
Starry ore is the rarest one — the “ultra-legendary drop” of the ore world.
You get it from wars only.
Which means:
We should be in war… always.
Even losing gives 50% ores for free.
Nice.
And yeah, one tiny trick:
If the win is guaranteed, hit a higher TH at the last minute.
More base strength = more ore payout.
Just don’t be that clanmate who messes up the win because they wanted extra pocket money.
Should You Spend Raid Medals on Ores?
We’ve argued about this in clan chat multiple times.
If you’re following the hero potion meta (buy 3 hero potions weekly → max heroes in war),
then save medals for potions.
But if you’re not doing the hero potion trick because “it feels boring” or “I want my heroes actually leveled”…
Then ores are your best buy.
Which Ore Should You Buy: Glowy, Shiny, or Starry?
This sounds simple. It’s not.
Clash always finds a way to make math emotional.
Here’s the thing:
If you have less than 3 Epic equipment pieces you’re actively upgrading → Glowy ore is your limiting material. Buy glowy.
If you have 3 or more Epics upgraded or planned → Starry ore becomes the bottleneck. Buy starry.
It’s wild, but glowy is actually the biggest choke point early.
Every piece needs it.
Every piece eats it.
It disappears like elixir in a Goblin event.
The One Trick Most Players Don’t Think About
This is a bit sweaty, but trust us — it works.
Rushing gives you more ores.
Not the “ruin your base” rush, but the “better offense → hit higher THs → bigger war ore payout” rush.
Higher TH offense =
higher base strength =
more ore per war attack.
We’re basically upgrading our ability to print ores.
Do Balance Changes Affect What You Should Upgrade?
Not really.
Upgrading equipment takes zero building time and gives instant value.
Even if the devs nerf something, they usually don’t nuke it into the ground.
Our rule:
Upgrade the gear you actually enjoy using.
Let future-you deal with future balance changes.
Small Plug Before We Forget
Once you understand ores, you basically unlocked the equipment meta.
And if you aren’t upgrading equipment right, you’re missing 80% of your hero power.
But that’s a rant for another blog.
For now?
Just climb leagues, stay in wars, buy the right ore type, and let that shiny stuff stack up.
Your heroes will thank you later — especially when their equipment stops being level 3 sadness.
